New Dracula Theater arises to present Daemons by Nanse Kawashima; an exhibition of works on paper inaugurating our new space. The exhibition runs from September 27th to October 25th, 2025.

Reflective of her life’s journey, Nanse has depicted, through channeling, various entities that enter into her life. Under the name of Sibylline Vein, Nanse currently works as a healing practitioner, working with reiki, tarot and psychic channeling. She offers group reiki & sound sessions called Somatic Resonance in collaboration with Sound Artist Bryce Hackford.

New Dracula Theater has produced a video interview with Nanse wherein she discusses the first piece that led to this body of work, wherein she channeled, and depicted, the spirit of her beloved dog, Nico. This video can be seen on our instagram page as well as our YouTube account.

In antiquity, Daemons were viewed as a variety of personifications such as spirits, forces of nature, deities themselves, or deceased loved ones. Daemons were thought of as unseen spirit guides, magical tools to guide us and perhaps maneuver around the machinery of fate.

Nanse Kawashima is a Japanese-born, multi-hyphenate metaphysical artist and practitioner. For most of her formative years, she moved frequently and lived in many different countries, including El Salvador, Jamaica, Hawaii, and Japan. New York City is the longest place she has lived in the world so far, and all of her previous homes impact her work and vision. She currently creates mixed media collage paintings and offers her services as a healing practitioner. Her artistic practice is often derived from channeled archetypes and symbologies from her spiritual practice. Her pieces depict the realm of subconscious stillness that is magical, haunting, and nostalgic.
